Tuesday, April 5, 2016 - UWL midwifery student Siobhan Hickey won the Student of the Year Award at the recent London North West Healthcare 2016 Pride in our Staff Excellence Awards. She was nominated for the award by both the UWL Midwifery Team and the Clinical Practice Facilitator at Northwick Park Hospital.
Midwifery Course Leader Andrea Aras-Payne said, ‘We are delighted with the news that Siobhan has been awarded LNWH 2016 Pride in our Staff Excellence Awards - Student of the Year. From the beginning of her course, Siobhan was noted to be a very caring and supportive student. Her excellent attitude reflected commitment to her learning; she is always keen to gain as much as possible from her clinical experiences. She represented her peers as a student rep and also UWL at HENWL Education Forums. Overall Siobhan displayed outstanding skills in theory, practice, communication and team working and has developed and displayed competence and compassion which is invaluable to the midwifery profession.’
On receiving her award, Siobhan said, ‘Being nominated for the Pride of Excellence Student of the Year award was such an honour. Winning the award is a lovely way to celebrate the end of my time as a student and a great start to my career as a midwife.’
