The SEGi University MBBS programme is structured into two distinct phases: the Medical Sciences Phase (Phase 1), which spans the first two years, and the Clinical Phase (Phase 2), which extends over the following three years. Each phase is strategically organised into four blocks, with modules and clinical postings carefully structured to enhance learning outcomes.
Phase 1, also referred to as the Pre-clinical Phase, comprises four key blocks: Block 1 (Foundation in Medical Sciences), Block 2 (Introduction to Behavioural Science, Clinical, and Community Medicine), Block 3 (System-Based Medical Sciences I), and Block 4 (System-Based Medical Sciences II). This phase focuses on building a strong foundational understanding of medical sciences before transitioning into clinical practice.
Phase 2, known as the Clinical Phase, also consists of four blocks spread over three years. These include Block 5 (Junior Clerkship), Block 6 (Specialty Clerkship I), Block 7 (Specialty Clerkship II), and Block 8 (Senior Clerkship). Throughout this phase, students gain extensive hands-on experience in clinical environments, enhancing their practical skills and medical knowledge.
Additionally, throughout the five years of study, SEGi University incorporates essential soft skills development into the curriculum. Modules in communication skills, behavioural science, teamwork, critical thinking, problem-solving, leadership, and management are embedded to prepare students for real-world medical practice.
The SEGi University MBBS programme holds international recognition and accreditation from various medical councils and regulatory bodies, including those in Malaysia, Thailand, Pakistan, Qatar, and the Maldives. This global recognition ensures that graduates are well-positioned for medical careers in multiple countries.
