Master of Information Systems

The Master of Information Systems programme offers an advanced curriculum that explores contemporary principles and theories of computing, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and its practical application in information technology. This programme equips students with the confidence to manage information systems (IS) as strategic organisational assets. Through critical problem analysis and effective decision-making, students gain the ability to optimise resources and enhance business operations.

Students will develop advanced expertise in the analysis, design, deployment, and management of information systems. Graduates will be well-prepared to devise, plan, control, and execute complex information systems management projects. Additionally, the programme offers opportunities to engage in professional development through seminars, research workshops, and conferences. Students can also attend specialised lecture series, such as Entrepreneurship Talk Series, delivered by accomplished entrepreneurs and industry experts.

Any one of these:

• A Bachelor's degree in the field or related fields with a CGPA of 2.75 and above, or an equivalent qualification approved by the Senate.
• A Bachelor's degree in the field or related fields with a CGPA between 2.50 and 2.74, or an equivalent qualification approved by the Senate, subject to a rigorous internal assessment.
• Candidates without a Bachelor's degree in the related fields or relevant working experience must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses determined by UTAR and meet the minimum CGPA requirements stated in (1) and (2).

Note: Candidates without a Computing degree may be required to undertake prerequisite modules to adequately prepare for advanced study.
